In addition to mechanical vibration, thermal cycling stress, and water vapor getting into them, medium and high voltage cable joints are also affected by these three major physical loads at the same time during service.
The problem is that traditional sheath materials can seldom be designed for both excellent mechanical properties and low water absorption, which results in cracking of the material or water ingress through the interface of the cable jacket and the filler, thus, accelerating partial discharges and finally the breakdown of the insulation after some time.
Our heat shrink semi-conductive tubing is cross-linked by electron beam that allows the material to attain a tensile strength of ≥13MPa and a breaking elongation of ≥300%, so that the tube remains strong even under varying mechanical loads. With a very low uptake of water ≤0.5%, a dimensional stability with the smallest shrinkage of ≤10% on a lengthwise base, and no shrinkage in thickness, the shrinkage of the tube results into a gapless seating of the cable interface thus, blocking any moisture entry along the joint.

Product Introduction:
Heat-shrinkable semi-conductive tubing is mainly used as a protective layer for electric cables made from cross-linked polyolefins - the kind of advanced polyethylene materials. The use of beam-curing cross-linking greatly increases mechanical strength, temperature resistance, and long-term durability of the product. Besides that, this material has semi-conductive properties on the one side, shielding characteristics on the other, and insulating layer in the middle. The result is quite remarkable: the cable has the same field strength in each point, there are no hot spots where partial discharges are likely, and there are no leakages neither short circuits nor electromagnetic interference. It is a must have for cable junctions and terminations, as well as power equipment of medium and high voltage, guaranteeing safe isolation, and thereby protection of electric systems against faults.

Advantages of Semi-Conductive Heat Shrink Tubing:
1. High Mechanical Strength and Excellent Flexibility.
Made through a cross-linking procedure, this semiconductive heat shrink tube has a tensile strength of at least 13 MPa and an elongation at break of at least 300%. It has a balanced mix of good flexibility and high impact resistance, being able to resist breaking or deforming even though stretched, compressed, or vibrated while installing a material. 1. Is heat shrink semi-conductive tube suitable for outdoor or humid environments?
Right. The material has a very low water absorption rate of at most 0.5%, it is highly water resistant and is tightly sealed. It can even be used for years in humid environments, places exposed to sea salt, and outdoors.
2. Will the heat shrink semi-conductive tube shrink and deform significantly after installation?
