Overhead transmission lines are exposed to complex environments such as ultraviolet radiation, rain, snow, high temperatures, salt spray, and pollution for a long time. Traditional rigid insulation sheaths are cumbersome to install and cannot adapt to the thermal expansion and contraction of conductors and vibration displacement. They are prone to cracking, loosening, or protection failure, and may also bring risks of electric shock, short circuit, and line faults.

1. Electrical Insulation Performance, Meeting Protection Requirements for Overhead Power Lines Up to 25kV.

Medium‍‌‍‍‌ and low voltage overhead power line covers are used as an insulation method for power distribution systems up to 25 kV. These products are made of silicone rubber which is highly insulating and has a dielectric strength of 20.7 kV/mm (according to IEC 60243). They help ensure the insulation of the conductors from contact by external elements and also prevent the occurrence of electrical accidents through accidental touching, short circuits, or the contacting of two conductors with differing ‍‌‍‍‌loads.


Depending‍‌‍‍‌ on the conductor type, the insulating jacket is suitable for conductors having cross-sectional areas from 10 to 400 mm², and diameters of the conductor from 2 to 25 mm. By doing so, it creates a continuous and compact insulation layer. Through this, the jacket protects substation leads, jumpers, and distribution lines against electrical insulation failures in a stable and reliable ‍‌‍‍‌way.


2. Spiral Structure Design for Quick Installation and Long-Term Reliable Fit.

Different‍‌‍‍‌ from the old methods that required insulation sheaths to be rigid and integral in the design, we have the benefit of not having to remove the line with our novel design or use a complex set of installation tools at all. The installation only needs one to turn or rotate the winding around the line conductor so that the work on location will take lesser time.


The sheath is made up of silicone rubber material which is very flexible. Because of that it can stretch and shrink without resistance freely along with the conductor even under the influence of wind forces, vibration, and thermal expansion and contraction. Thus, it avoids cracking or detachment and ensures stable protection for a long ‍‌‍‍‌period.


3. Excellent Weather Resistance and Flame Retardant Properties, Suitable for Complex Outdoor Environments.

The‍‌‍‍‌ protection covers for overhead power lines are made from flame-retardant, anti-tracking silicone rubber material that has outstanding resistance to ultraviolet radiation, ozone, and high and low temperatures, and also to various atmospheric environmental conditions such as rain, and ‍‌‍‍‌snow.


The‍‌‍‍‌ sheath is made of a material whose tensile strength is measured at 5.3 MPa. It has an elongation at break of 220%; it was continuously tested for 4 hours in low temperature of -40℃, and no cracking was observed. Similarly, no cracking was observed in thermal shock testing of 90℃. Due to such properties, the material can resist aging from ultraviolet radiation, rain erosion, cover under snow as well as environmental pollution for long time keeping excellent mechanical and electrical insulation under outdoor harsh conditions and thereby significantly prolonging the life-span of the ‍‌‍‍‌line.

Yes.

2. After long-term use, will the silicone cable protective cover loosen due to thermal expansion and contraction of the cable or strong wind vibration?

No. The silicone rubber material is very stretchy, so it can expand, compress, and bend in the same way as the cable. In addition, the coil design has clamping power, which works well to counter wind vibration and changes in temperature, cracking and shifting are prevented, and therefore, long-lasting and secure connection is achieved. ‍‌‍‍‌
