Project Background

Located in Haiyan County, Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province, the Fangjiashan Nuclear Power Plant is an expansion project based at the Qinshan Nuclear Power Base and is developed and operated by the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC). The project comprises the construction of two 1,000 MWe-class pressurized water reactor (PWR) units (CNP1000)—with a total installed capacity of 2,000 MW—and represents a large-scale commercial nuclear power project independently designed, constructed, and operated by my country. It is also a key component of the Qinshan Nuclear Power Base. Unit 1 of the Fangjiashan Nuclear Power Plant officially entered commercial operation in November 2014, followed by Unit 2 in January 2015, marking a significant milestone in the indigenization of my country's nuclear power industry.


Our Company's Involvement

In 2013, we successfully obtained the "License for Design and Manufacture of Civil Nuclear Safety Equipment" issued by the National Nuclear Safety Administration, becoming the first qualified domestic supplier authorized to manufacture nuclear power cable accessories. Leveraging this qualification, we undertook the supply of nuclear-grade cable accessories for the Fangjiashan Nuclear Power Plant, providing series products including heat-shrinkable cable terminations and joints throughout the project's critical construction phases from 2013 to 2014.

Product Applications and Technical Features

The products supplied cover multiple voltage ratings and are widely used in the power and control cable systems of the nuclear island, conventional island, and auxiliary buildings at the Fangjiashan Nuclear Power Plant. Heat-shrinkable cable terminations are used for insulation sealing and electrical connections at cable ends, while heat-shrinkable cable joints are used for the mid-line splicing and extension of cable circuits.

  • Aging resistance: Utilizes specialized nuclear-grade heat-shrink materials with excellent resistance to thermal and hygrothermal aging, ensuring safety and reliability throughout the product's entire lifecycle;

  • Sealing and protection: A multi-layer heat-shrink structure ensures a reliable, sealed, and insulated joint, preventing the ingress of moisture and external media.


Project Significance

The Fangjiashan Nuclear Power Plant project was a landmark undertaking that marked the company's entry into the nuclear power market following its acquisition of the nuclear safety equipment license. The successful validation of the company's products under the nuclear power quality system enabled the domestic substitution of nuclear power cable accessories; furthermore, the project allowed the company to accumulate valuable performance records and service experience in the nuclear power sector, laying a solid foundation for its continued service to major domestic nuclear power plants.
